Worth a visit on your day out
We recently visited the Green Welly Stop to stock up on some goodies for a hamper and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. It would be easy to mistake the Green Welly Stop for just another service station for passing tourists, but it has a quirky and fun feel to the place.
You can get all the usual food you would expect from a service station but there are some great qualities worth pointing out. All the food is apparently made on site, and they have a great range of foods on offer. Fried foods are banned in the self-service restaurant, so instead you get more local delicacies such as Cullen Skink which has Mallaig peat smoked haddock. You can also get other walker-friendly options such as pasta, leek and potato bake as well as traditional baking like clootie dumpling.
There's also a Snack Stop Cafe for quick bites (the usual offerings such as pizza, pasta, soups and bacon rolls).
The Green Welly Stop is also a haven for bikers. The fact that it is located so close to Glencoe means that it's the perfect stop for bikers who are on a day out, ready to enjoy the beauty of the Glen, or those who have returned from an exhilarating day out and ready for some well earned grub!
We were pleased also with the range of gifts. We were able to stock a quality hamper with gifts including shortbread, jams, wine as well as non-food items such as playing cards and coasters.
All in all, definitely worth visiting if you are looking to stop off for a bite on a day out.
